About

PhD student in Politics (Sheffield), MSc Development Studies (Lund), Masters in Asian Studies (Lund), BA Political Science (Philippines).

The project is an ORS/University of Sheffield funded research on the political economy of natural resources in Brazil and Chile. The cases are drawn from petroleum (Brazil) and copper mining (Chile). Using historical institutionalism and critical international political economy perspectives, the research looks at the reconstitution of the state and the significance of organised business and labour unions in shaping resource governance models. My key contribution is to question the sweeping claims around the homogenous effect of neoliberalism across Latin America, problematise the political economy literature on resources for its insufficient and outdated treatment of resource management, and open up debates around what post-neoliberalism means for Latin American states.
