I am a medical lawyer interested in the regulation of biotechnology and particularly the issues raised by globalisation.

My doctoral thesis looks at the financial implications of use of genetic information by the insurance industry. I argue that the individual right to decide to undergo predictive genetic testing, combined with the potential harm to society caused by the insurance use of predictive genetic test information are good reasons for the government to prohibit the use of this information by insurance companies.

I am also interested in the regulation of clinical research, and the teaching of medical ethics and medical law to medical students.

At Sheffield, I teach Equity and Restitution alongside medical law subjects.
